What is Left Alternative???
LET US UNITE FOR A TRULY SOVEREIGN, SECULAR AND SELF-RELIANT INDIA!
This is a crucial period in our country's history. Imperialist forces
are trying to convert India into a slave state with the connivance of
the Indian ruling class represented by the Congress-led United
Progressive Alliance (UPA) and the BJP-led National Democratic
Alliance (NDA). The effects of the global economic crisis is
threatening to engulf the Indian economy as well. Internally, the
country is faced with the threat of religious fundamentalism and
extremism, primarily represented by the Sangh Parivar. This is,
therefore, a time when the Left and secular forces in the country have
a crucial role to play in national polity.
India has remained relatively shielded from the impact of the massive
economic crisis only because of the stiff resistance that the Left
parties had offered to efforts by the UPA Government to throw the
Indian economy open to predatory capitalist forces. The Left had also
waged a valiant struggle against the Manmohan Singh Government's
attempts to make the country subservient to imperialist designs and
against all forms of fundamentalism and extremism. This is the time for
all democratic and secular sections of the Indian population to rally
behind the struggle for national sovereignty, economic independence
and religious amity. Let us strive together to make India a proud
nation with an independent foreign policy, a self-reliant economic
policy and a social fabric untainted by communal fascism.

The left alternative has many obsolete ideas. It is in capable of finding any success among the working class, peasantry and agricultural workers. It should come out to wider platforms with relevant people's issues. Like some of the CPI leaders calling to take up the land eviction issues in Bihar in the name of development. First look at the common man in India. Learn what they want now. Then the left alternative may have some real mass struggles to lead to.
